Hi @celeste235 ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are trying to set up fax to email on your HP OfficeJet 8022 All-in-One Printer, you'll need to use the HP Smart app and make sure you have HP's eFax service enabled. Fax to email typically requires an online fax service, as regular fax machines cannot directly send faxes to email without such a service. Here's a step-by-step guide to set it up:

Set Up Fax to Email on HP OfficeJet 8022 (using HP eFax service)

Download and Install HP Smart App: HP printer setup (HP Smart app)

  • If you haven’t already, download the HP Smart app from the Microsoft Store (for Windows) or Apple App Store (for macOS/iOS).
  • Open the app and sign in or create an HP account if you haven’t done so already.

Set Up the Printer:

  • Open the HP Smart app and select your HP OfficeJet 8022 printer.
  • If the printer isn't connected, follow the app’s prompts to connect it to Wi-Fi.

Enable HP eFax:

  • From the HP Smart app, go to the Fax section.
  • If you haven't set up eFax yet, it will prompt you to sign up for HP eFax. You will need to create an account with HP to use this feature.
  • You may be offered a free trial or the option to purchase a plan for sending and receiving faxes via email.

Set Up Fax to Email:

  • Once HP eFax is set up, you'll be able to send faxes to any email address directly from the HP Smart app.
  • Simply scan the document you want to fax, select the fax option, and enter the recipient’s email address. The fax will be sent to their inbox as an email attachment.

Sending a Fax:

  • To send a fax via email, open the HP Smart app on your computer or mobile device.
  • Go to the Fax tab.
  • Select the document you want to fax, enter the recipient’s email address, and click Send. You can also add a subject or message, similar to sending an email.

Fax to Computer Not Working

If the Fax to Computer feature is not working, there may be some configuration issues or a problem with the connection between your printer and the computer.

Check the Computer’s Fax Settings:

  • Ensure that Windows Fax and Scan is correctly set up on your computer (if you are using it to receive faxes).
  • Make sure the printer and computer are on the same network, and that the computer is configured to receive faxes from your printer.

Reinstall Printer Drivers:

  • Sometimes fax functionality can break after an update or change in settings. Uninstall and reinstall the printer drivers and software from the HP website or using the HP Smart app.

Check the Fax Setup on the Printer:

  • On the printer’s control panel, navigate to Fax Settings and ensure everything is configured correctly (e.g., fax number, settings, etc.).

Make Sure Fax Line is Working:

  • If you are using a traditional phone line for fax, ensure that the line is active, and there are no issues with the phone service.

Let me know if you need help with any of these steps!
