Hp officejet Pro 8600 why is my scanner reading no document loaded after completing a scan?

I can no longer get the printer to recognize my computer when I am trying to scan. It prints fine from my computer, so I know it is connected. So when I go into my computer and pull up the printer, I can start the scan from there. I can see it coming through on the screen, but once it is completed with the scan, a flag comes up stating "No Document Loaded". How can I get it so load. I have tried selecting Pdf and other formats but they all do the same thing.

Probably on your app you selected scan from the ADF  (Automatic Document Feeder), but you intended to scan from the glass? Change the scan source to glass scan bed, or if you do want to scan from the ADF, load the document on the ADF first, and make sure you here the "ding" or see the "document loaded" notification on the screen.

Actually I selected the document feeder and yes it did make the ding sound once I loaded it. It scans fine as I can see it on my computer screen as each page goes through. However when it is done it tells me "no document loaded" even though I can see the document behind the flag.

"No document loaded" the scanner didn't sense any document loaded in the ADF. 

In your case, you have successfully scanned the document.  It should have said something like "Scanning finished".

Could it be that somehow the "scan" button was clicked again? That would explain the message.
