HP ENVY 6452e All-in-One Printer
  • Everytime I try to link my printer to the smartapp I get an error right at the end that tells me to contact customer support. They were unable to resolve my issue. Because I can't connect my printer to this stupid app, all I can do is print things. No scanning or anything else. About to take the printer back and get a brother. How absurd this software can't link a printer. Tried on windows pc, macbook and iPad.

Hi @Crisppybacon ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you've tried multiple devices and methods to link your HP ENVY 6452e All-In-One Printer to the HP Smart app without success, which can be very frustrating. Here are some steps you can try to resolve the issue:

Uninstall and Reinstall HP Smart App:

  • Uninstall the HP Smart app from your Windows PC, MacBook, and iPad.
  • Restart the devices.
  • Reinstall the HP Smart app from the official website or app store.

Reset Printer to Factory Settings:

  • On the printer's control panel, go to Setup > Printer Maintenance > Restore > Restore Factory Defaults.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to reset the printer.

Check Network Connection:

  • Ensure your printer and devices are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
  • Avoid using a guest network or a network with multiple subnets.

Disable Firewall/Antivirus Temporarily:

  • Temporarily disable any firewall or antivirus software on your Windows PC and MacBook as they can sometimes block the app from communicating with the printer.

Manually Connect Printer to Wi-Fi:

  • On the printer's control panel, go to Setup > Network Setup > Wireless Settings > Wireless Setup Wizard.
  • Follow the instructions to connect the printer to your Wi-Fi network.

Use HP Print and Scan Doctor (Windows Only): HP Print and Scan Doctor

  • Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor tool to diagnose and fix connectivity issues.

Update Printer Firmware: Update the firmware on an HP printer

  • Ensure the printer firmware is up to date. You can check for updates via the printer control panel under Setup > Printer Maintenance > Update the Printer.

Create a New HP Account:

  • Sometimes, issues with the HP account can cause linking problems. Try creating a new HP account and use that to link the printer.

Manual IP Connection:

  • Find your printer’s IP address by printing a network configuration page.
  • Open the HP Smart app, select Add Printer, and choose Add Printer Using IP Address.
  • Enter the printer’s IP address and follow the instructions.

If none of these steps work, it might be helpful to perform a clean installation of the HP Smart app and printer drivers:

  1. Clean Installation:
    • Completely uninstall the HP Smart app and all HP printer drivers from your devices.
    • Restart your devices.
    • Download and install the latest drivers and HP Smart app from the HP website.

Refer to this document: HP ENVY 6452e All-in-One Printer User manual

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
