@Mollyb0124, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding HP OfficeJet Pro 8015e Copying Issue from Flatbed!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

If your HP OfficeJet Pro 8015e printer is not copying from the flatbed, follow these steps to resolve the issue:

1. Check the Flatbed Glass:

  • Clean the Glass: Ensure the flatbed glass is clean. Dirt or smudges can interfere with the scanning process. Use a soft cloth slightly dampened with glass cleaner. Avoid using abrasives or placing any liquid directly on the glass.

2. Position the Document Correctly:

  • Place Document: Ensure the document is placed face-down on the flatbed glass, aligned with the specified corner or guides indicated on the scanner area.

3. Operating the Printer:

  • Select the Correct Source: Make sure that when you initiate a copy, the printer is set to copy from the flatbed glass and not the document feeder.
  • Use the Control Panel: Go to the printer's control panel, choose the copy function, and ensure it's set to use the flatbed.

4. Check for Software or Firmware Updates:

  • Update Firmware: Check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer. Usually, you can do this by visiting HP's support website and downloading the latest updates.
  • Driver Installation: Ensure that you have the latest drivers installed on your connected computer.

5. Power Cycle the Printer:

  • Restart: Turn off the printer by pressing the power button, wait for about 30 seconds, and then turn it back on. This simple reset often resolves many technical glitches.

6. Test with Different Documents:

  • Test Copies: Try copying different types of documents or images to rule out file format issues.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
