I keep getting an error message saying my scan was cancelled by the scanner. How can I resolve?

I know how frustrating it is when you’re ready to scan and suddenly get the message “Scan was cancelled by the HP scanner.” It feels like the printer is pulling the brakes for no reason. Let’s fix this so your scans go through smoothly.

Step-by-Step Fix

1. Restart Everything

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it for 60 seconds.
  • Restart your computer or mobile device.
  • Power the printer back on.
     

2. Check Connection

  • If using Wi-Fi, ensure a strong signal and the same network for the printer and PC.
  • If using a USB, try a different cable and port.
     

3. Update HP App

4. Update Printer Firmware

5. Try Scanning from Embedded Web Server (EWS)

  • Find printer IP (on printer screen or HP App).
  • Enter IP in browser → Go to Scan tab → Try scanning.
