I am missing the scan icon on my desktop.

I lost the scan icon when I transferred to a new computer.

The Scan icon shortcut is added when the full driver printer software is installed.

Separately,

This printer also supports the "new format" stand-alone HP Universal Scan software.

The HPUS includes the features supported in HP Scan plus "extras".

For example,

The HP Universal Scan Software also includes a "larger" main menu container -- that is, when you open the software, the menu appears larger on the screen.  This "larger view size" allows HP Universal Scan to be used in higher resolution computer screens without having to squint or use a magnifier.

Install the full driver printer software to enjoy all the benefits of the Full Feature Software, including support for printing from within Word and other software (for example, Adobe Reader, Photo editing software).

Reminder

The HP Universal Scan software, while supported on your printer and Windows 11, is optional.

If not done,

Install the Full Feature / Full Driver Printer Software

Open Web Pack Installation - Web Page

HP ENVY Photo 7800 All-in-One Print and Scan Driver and Accessories 

Download, Save, and Install.

After the software is installed, Restart the computer and log in

AND / OR 

(Supported on this printer)

Open website  HP Universal Scan Full Feature Software 

If needful, choose a different OS > Open all

Find / Download / Save / Install HP Universal Scan – Full Feature Software and Driver Webpack 

After the software is installed, Restart the computer and sign in.

Once installed, the full driver printer software will have added one of two "container" shortcuts on the Desktop:

• Printer Assistant - named for the printer model

OR

• Scan Assistant - named for itself

The full driver printer software, once installed, will have added a shortcut icon for HP Scan. 

The shortcut for HP Scan that is part of the full driver might be named for the printer model.

Separately --

Installation of the HP Universal Scan Software adds an "HP Scan" self-named shortcut icon to the Desktop.
