I understand your HP MFP M283FDW isn’t scanning to your Windows 11 PC. Let’s go through a few steps to check what could be causing this.

Check connection type

Make sure the printer is connected to the same network as your PC (Wi-Fi or Ethernet).

You can print a network configuration page from the printer to confirm the IP address.

Install or update HP drivers and software

Download the full feature driver and HP Smart from HP’s website for the M283FDW.

Avoid using only generic drivers — full feature software includes scanning support.

Use HP Smart or Windows Scan

Open HP Smart and check if the printer is detected.

Alternatively, try Windows Scan or Windows Fax and Scan to see if scanning works outside HP Smart.

Check firewall and antivirus settings

Sometimes Windows Firewall or antivirus software blocks scanning over the network.

Temporarily disable them to test if the scan works.

Restart devices

Power off the printer and PC, wait 30 seconds, then turn them back on.

Reopen HP Smart or Windows Scan and try scanning again.

Test a direct connection

If Wi-Fi scanning doesn’t work, try connecting the printer via USB to confirm scanning functionality.
