HP Document - How to Scan

HP Printers - How to Scan (Windows, Mac, Mobile) | HP® Customer Support

Sources depend on the product, the Operating System, and the software or application you are using to open, view, configures, and submit the job to the printer.

Destination of scanned content depends on the method and the software used to scan that content.

General destination locations include local folders on the computer:  Documents or Pictures

In the case of photo scans, the content might be placed into a sub-folder in (for example) Pictures.

HP Smart - Windows - Scan > multiple destination choices

For example, Print, Save, Share (to email), Shortcuts, Mobile Fax

HP_Smart_W10_Scan_Edit_Select_8HP_Smart_W10_Scan_Edit_Select_8

Additional Information

Source is the initial location of the data / content to be scanned.

Source generally does not influence destination except perhaps in terms of the content type.

Example Sources

Printer - flatbed or ADF (Automatic Document Feeder) - for example, used HP Smart Windows / MacOS

Files / Storage - for example, used with HP Smart Mobile > Scan > Import

Camera - for example, used with HP Smart Mobile

General Example - HP Smart - Windows - Scan > Edit Set

HP_Smart_W10_Scan_Edit_Image_Set_11HP_Smart_W10_Scan_Edit_Image_Set_11

General Example - HP Smart Mobile (iPadOS) - Scan menu

HP_Smart_Mobile_Scan_PDF-Image_Options_7HP_Smart_Mobile_Scan_PDF-Image_Options_7
