Note: From May 1, 2024, the HP Scan and Capture app will no longer be available (retired) in the Microsoft Store and HP will not release any further app updates. We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.

LaserJet Pro MFP M426-M427

We are currently using HP LaserJet Pro MFP M426-M427 series MFPs to scan documents over a local private network. Unfortunately, we are unable to use the "HP Smart" application as it requires an internet connection for sign-in, which is not compliant with our IRS security and privacy requirements.

 

I am puzzled as to why a local scan application needs to connect to the internet, as it should not transmit any information, statistics, or private data, nor should it open scanner ports to the internet.

 

Previously, I was able to download the HP Scan and Capture App, but it appears to be unavailable now as I cannot locate it anywhere. Additionally, the product support page for the HP LaserJet Pro MFP M426fdw only provides print drivers, leaving the scanning functionality incomplete.

 

In the past, I have successfully used the HP Universal Scan Software with other HP MFP printer models, but this particular model (LaserJet Pro MFP M426-M427) is not recognized by this tool, which works perfectly for scanning within a private network.

 

Could you please assist us in finding a solution or provide a link to download the appropriate drivers/software/app for this product? These should be available as they were before.

Just configure direct scan to folder through the EWS of the printer.  NO software required. Scans are launched directly from the control panel of the printer so no going back and forth between printer and your computer. You will just need a shared network folder and credentials that have access rights to write information to that folder.
