HP OfficeJet Pro 8715
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

The message I get says "The  Fax Function was locked with the printer was set up"  I set it up, IT WAS NOT LOCKED.  I have gone the ip address 192.168.0.14 and got to the security page, there is no password enabled on this  printer.  I have unplugged the printer to reset it.  It still won't let me send a fax.  I have tried to uninstall all my HP printer software and reinstall,  I've tried to go the fax setup wizard but I get the same kind of error - HP Fax Setup Wizard has been locked.  When I went to the IP address I noticed that my information was already in the file.    Also when I hit the Send a Fax icon I get a window that says I have

2 or more of the same devices connected.  Select one.  I've tried selecting each of them and I still get the error "The fax function was locked when the printer was set up.

This computer was upgraded to Windows 10 a month ago, before that it was a Windows  8.1 computer.

Additional Problem now I can not print from a Word Document.   I went to the control panel and select this printer and tried to print a test page but I was told I could not make this printer my default printer.  Do I need to uninstall everything again and start over?

Hi @car9999,

I'd like to help!

We can perform a factory defaults on the printer to resolve the issue

  • The reset instructions are specific for your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may corrupt the device.
  • I've sent you a private message with reset instructions, follow the reset instruction to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer.
  • In order to access your private messages, click the private message icon on the upper right corner of your HP Forums profile, next to your profile Name or simply click on this link: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/notes/privatenotespage

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

I do not see the private  message you are referring to on the link that you sent me in the email message.  And I don't see a way to send you a screenshot of what I am seeing as an attachment.
