Hi @szavy,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you can print but are experiencing issues scanning to a document file on your computer, there could be a few reasons why this is happening. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue.

  • Check connections: Ensure that your printer is properly connected to your computer, either via USB cable or through a network connection. Also, make sure that your printer is powered on and connected to the same network as your computer if you're using a wireless connection.
  • Update drivers: Make sure that you have the latest drivers installed for your HP printer. You can usually find and download the latest drivers from the HP website. Sometimes outdated drivers can cause scanning issues.
  • Check scanning software: Verify that you are using the correct scanning software provided by HP for your printer model. Sometimes third-party scanning software might not work properly with your printer.
  • Restart devices: Try restarting both your computer and your printer. Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve connectivity issues.
  • Check scanner settings: Ensure that the scanner settings on your computer are configured correctly. Make sure that your computer recognizes the scanner and that it's set as the default scanning device.
  • Security software: Check if any security software or firewall settings on your computer are blocking the scanning process. Temporarily disable them to see if it resolves the issue.
  • Scan from the printer control panel: If your HP printer has a built-in display, try scanning directly from the printer's control panel to see if the issue is with the computer or the printer itself.
  • Test with different software: Try scanning with different scanning software on your computer to see if the issue is specific to a particular program.
  • Check file format and destination: Make sure you're selecting the correct file format (such as PDF, JPEG, etc.) and destination folder for the scanned documents on your computer.

By following these steps, you should be able to identify and resolve the issue with scanning to a document file on your computer using your HP printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
