I can send faxes but cannot receive faxes

Using an HP LaserJet Pro M1212nf Multifunction Printer, Model CE841A, I can send faxes but cannot receive faxes. This function worked fine until recently. Nothing in the setup or connections has changed.

If you have a standard telephone, connect it instead of the fax and call and see if you are able to answer. This is the easiest way to determine hardware issue with the printer or an issue with your phone provider.

Thanks, Repairatrooper. The fax machine is on a dedicated fax line. I can fax out on it but can't receive, which tells me the line is working. I have a standard desk landline as well, and both of them come out of a single cable modem. If I call the fax line from the desk line, it just rings and rings. Others get the same response when they call the fax line from their fax machine. It won't answer. I've loaded current drivers and run troubleshooting on it. Nothing turns up or makes a difference. I guess I could buy a new machine, but I get so few faxes and everything else (printing and scanning) works fine, so it's not really worth doing that. I just thought maybe there was some switch I could toggle on or something. My fax line is 423-328-7443 if you wanted to try it.
