I can't find the scan app

I want to scan a document but I can't find the scan button on Windows 11. It used to be on the list of apps but it isn't there anymore.

Installed applications are listed in Settings > Apps > Installed apps

Depending on your printer model, there might be one or several applications dedicated to printing and / or scanning.

You also need to know what you have lost, that is, the name of the application, to understand how to get it back.

If you can tell us a bit more about what you seek, we might be able to suggest what to try.

Examples of Print / Scan applications that might be listed in Settings > Apps > Installed apps

HP Scan and Capture -- Retired in April of 2024 -- If the application were removed for any reason, it is no  longer available for for installation.  No work around beyond trying to "go back in time" using System Restore.  Note >> Using System Restore requires a valid Restore Point and an understanding of the consequences of using the Restore process.

Windows Scan -- Available at the  Microsoft Store

HP Smart -- Print and Scan for PDF and Photos / Images - Available at the  Microsoft Store

HP Scan - (Exact name varies) -- Part of the full driver printer software -- Although included in "Installed apps", HP Scan is usually part of the Print Drivers installed in Control Panel > icon view > Programs and Features

Printer "Basic Device Software" -- (Exact name varies)  -- Full Driver printer software -- Although included in "Installed apps", the full driver printer software is installed in Control Panel > icon view > Programs and Features

"HP Scan Basic Device Software" -- HP Universal Scan Software -- Printer Model AND Operating System / version dependent -- Printer Driver Software of this type is installed in Control Panel > icon view > Programs and Features
