My mac isn't connected to the scanner anymore, but I can print

I understand the issue where you can print but not scan from your HP ENVY 6030 All-In-One Printer on your Mac, follow these troubleshooting steps:

 

Step 1: Verify Connections

  1. Wi-Fi Connection: Ensure that both your Mac and the HP ENVY 6030 are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
  2. USB Connection: If using a USB connection, check that the cable is securely connected to both the printer and the Mac.

Step 2: Check Scanner Software

  1. HP Easy Start: Download and install HP Easy Start from the HP website.
  2. HP Smart App: Ensure you have the HP Smart App installed on your Mac. This app can help manage your printer and scanner functions.

Step 3: Re-add Printer

  1. Open System Preferences and go to Printers & Scanners.
  2. Select your HP ENVY 6030 printer and click the - button to remove it.
  3. Click the + button to add it again. Make sure to select the printer that includes "AirPrint" in its name.

Step 4: Use Image Capture

  1. Open Image Capture from the Applications folder.
  2. Select your HP ENVY 6030 from the Devices or Shared list.
  3. Try scanning from there.

Step 5: Check Scanner Settings

  1. Open HP Smart and go to the Scan section.
  2. Ensure the scanner settings are configured correctly and try scanning.

Step 6: Update Software and Drivers  Software and Drivers for HP ENVY 6030 All-In-One Printer

  1. macOS Update: Ensure your macOS is up to date by going to System Preferences > Software Update.
  2. HP Drivers: Download and install the latest HP printer drivers from the HP Support website.

Step 7: Reset Printing System

  1. Open System Preferences and go to Printers & Scanners.
  2. Right-click (or Control-click) in the printer list and select Reset printing system.
  3. Re-add your HP ENVY 6030 printer.

Step 8: Troubleshooting with HP Support Assistant

  1. Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor on your Mac. This tool can automatically diagnose and fix scanner issues.

Additional Tips:

  • Restart Devices: Sometimes a simple restart of your Mac and printer can resolve connectivity issues.
  • Firewall/Security Software: Ensure that firewall or security software on your Mac is not blocking the scanner.
