Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

The scanning feature worked for almost 3 years and now If I click on the Icon to scan it tells me "The  HP Officejet Pro 9020 was not found" .  The printing feature works ok.  I can scan to a USB Drive but that is cumbersom to scan to USB and then move the USB drive to the computer.  Any thoughts or help will be appreciated.

Thanks

Hi @JRandyD ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are encountering scanning issues with your HP Officejet Pro 9020, there are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the problem. Here's a guide to help you:

  • Restart Devices: Sometimes, simply restarting your printer and computer can resolve connectivity issues. Turn off your printer, wait for a few moments, and then turn it back on. Restart your computer as well.
  • Check Connections: Ensure that your printer is properly connected to your computer and that both devices are on the same network. If you're using a USB connection, make sure the cable is securely connected to both the printer and the computer.
  • Update Drivers: Outdated or corrupt printer drivers can cause scanning problems. Make sure you have the latest drivers installed for your HP Officejet Pro 9020. You can download and install the drivers from the official HP website.
  • HP Print and Scan Doctor: HP provides a free diagnostic tool called HP Print and Scan Doctor, which can help identify and resolve printing and scanning issues. Download and run this tool to see if it detects any problems with your printer.
  • Firewall/Antivirus Settings: Sometimes, firewall or antivirus settings can block communication between your printer and computer. Temporarily disable your firewall or antivirus software and try scanning again to see if it resolves the issue. If it does, you may need to adjust the settings to allow communication with your printer.
  • Reinstall Software: Try uninstalling and reinstalling the printer software on your computer. This can help resolve any software-related issues that may be causing the scanning problem.
  • Check for Windows Updates: Ensure that your Windows 10 operating system is up to date. Sometimes, Windows updates can include fixes for compatibility issues with printers and scanners.
  • Reset Printer Settings: You can try resetting your printer to its factory defaults. Refer to your printer's manual for instructions on how to do this.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
