Hello,
An E5 error occurs when the printer experiences a scanning error.
An E5 error occurs when the printer experiences a scanning error.
Please reset the printer's power supply as follows:
- Turn on the printer.
- Before continuing, wait until the printer is idle and silent.
- Disconnect the USB cable from the back of the printer. If your printer has a network or wireless connection, leave it connected.
- With the printer turned on, unplug the power cord from the back of the printer and from the wall outlet.
- Wait at least 60 seconds.
- Plug the power cord into the outlet.
NOTE: HP then recommends reconnecting the printer's power cord directly into a wall outlet.
- Reconnect the power cord to the back of the printer.
- Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically make it.It is possible that the printer goes through a warm-up cycle. It is also possible that the printer lights blink and the carriage moves.
- Wait until the preheat cycle and until the printer is idle and silent before continuing.
- Print a calibration page, if prompted.
- If you disconnected the USB cable, reconnect it to the back of the product.
- Try to scan and print.
If the issue continues, please follow the instructions below:
- On the keyboard, simultaneously tap the Windows flag and the R key. The Run window opens.
- Type control printers, then press Enter. The Devices and Printers window opens.
- Right-click HP ENVY Pro 6400 series, then Remove device and Yes.
- On the keyboard, simultaneously tap the Windows flag and the R key. The Run window opens.
- Type printui /s /t2, then press Enter. The Print Server Properties window opens in the Drivers tab.
- Select HP ENVY Pro 6400 series, then click Remove..., and then select Remove driver and driver package.
- Click OK, then Yes, and then Delete.
- Restart the computer.
- Launch the printer software installed on the desktop and click Connect a new printer.
- Select Manual Setup, then Next, and select Wireless, and then Next.
- Select name printer, and then Next.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the printer installation.
- Try to scan and print.
Please use the HP ENVY Pro 6400 All-in-One series Printer Full Features Software and Drivers to install your printer.
Please Update the firmware on your HP printer.
