Hope you are well, this is a recommended troubleshoot for this type of issues:
Please try to make a copy from the printer to make sure the scaner ADF rollers and components are working properly, if it fails even making a copy, most likely this is related to be a Hardware problem, so an Onsite inspection may be a good option for repair, you can get the list of authorized service providers from HP.com - authorized service providers (scroll down to the bottom of the page to see the option)
if its working fine when making a copy, the hardware is working ok, You may try to use an Scan app like HP scan and capture, HP smart to connect with the printer.
