Hi @Frances272,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand you’re having trouble remembering how to use the scanner function on your HP Smart Tank 6001. Let’s go through the steps to help you scan your documents easily.

    a. Prepare the Printer and Document
      • Turn on the printer and make sure it is connected to your computer (via Wi-Fi or USB).
      • Lift the scanner lid and place the document face-down on the scanner glass, aligning it with the guides in the corner.

    b. Open HP Smart App on Your Computer/Phone
      • On your Windows/Mac computer or smartphone, open the HP Smart app.
      • If you don’t have it installed, you can download it from the Microsoft Store, Mac App Store, or Google Play/Apple App Store.
      • Make sure your printer (HP Smart Tank 6001) shows as Connected.

    c. Start a Scan
      • Click or tap Scan on the HP Smart home screen.
      • Choose Scanner Glass as the source if prompted.
      • Select your scan type (PDF, JPEG, etc.), and adjust settings like color, resolution (DPI), and size if needed.
      • Click Scan to start.

    d. Preview and Adjust if Necessary
      • Once the scan completes, you will see a preview.
      • You can crop, rotate, or add pages if you are scanning multiple documents.

    e. Save or Share the Scan
      • Click Save, and select a folder on your computer or phone.
      • You can also choose Email, Print, or Save to Cloud (Google Drive, OneDrive, etc.).

I hope this helps.
