I have been trying to scan pictures and keep coming up with a yellow line in the scan.  It is an imbedded line as it prints also. I have run the hp Doctor and it shows no problems to fix.  I have changed nothing since I purchased the printer.

Hi! @Louis81, Welcome to HP forums.

I understand you have scanning issues with your printer.

Don't worry I'll try to help you out.

Did you make any changes to your printer?

Are you able to make a copy from your printer?

As you mentioned when you try to scan from your printer you are getting a yellow line on the picture.

Try the steps recommended below.

Clean the scanner glass and underside of the scanner lid with a soft, lint-free cloth sprayed with glass cleaner.

1.Turn the printer off, then disconnect the power cord.

2.Lift the scanner lid.

3.Spray a soft, lint-free cloth with glass cleaner, then wipe the scanner glass, glass strip (if present), the white backing under the scanner lid, and the white strip under the lid (if present) until clean, dry, and streak-free.

   caution:

To protect the interior printer parts, do not spray the cleaner directly on the glass or on the underside of the lid.

4.Reconnect the power cord, turn on the printer, then close the scanner lid completely.

5.Load the original document or photo, then try to scan. Make sure the original document or photo is in good condition and free of tears, creases, folds, staples, or tape.

Also, try updating the printer firmware and check if it helps.

Update the printer firmware using this link.

Also, refer this article to further troubleshoot scan quality issues with your printer.

If the issue still persists after trying out the steps. It is a hardware issue with your printer.

Thank you very much for the help with the envy 4520.  I cleaned as best I could and still had the yellow line down the edge of my scanned copy.  I took the printed version to the store I purchased the printer from and they verified that it was not a dirty glass situation but a problem with the printer.  They replaced the printer and everything is working great.  Thank you Office Max!!
