I can not get my printer to print, everything is just a blank sheet of paper.  It acts like it is printing but I get nothing.  Have tried turning off, unplugging, cleaning.  Any suggestions. ?

Hi @Jenner91,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your HP OfficeJet Pro 6968 runs through the motions of printing but only produces blank pages, with no error codes showing. Let’s go through a few steps to check what could be causing this.

1. Check Ink Levels

On the printer’s control panel, go to Setup > Tools > Estimated Ink Levels.

If any cartridge is very low or empty, replace it.

2. Inspect Cartridges

Open the cartridge access door and remove each cartridge.

Make sure the plastic tape covering the ink nozzles was removed (sometimes it sticks).

Check for clogged or dried ink on the nozzles and wipe the copper-colored contacts gently with a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water.

3. Run Printhead Cleaning

On the printer menu, go to Setup > Printer Maintenance > Clean Printhead.

Print a test page.

If still blank, repeat up to 2–3 times (don’t run more consecutively to avoid ink waste).

4. Align the Printhead

From the same menu, choose Align Printhead and follow on-screen steps.

5. Check Paper & Print Settings

In your print dialog box, make sure it’s not set to “Print in grayscale / black ink only” if the black cartridge is faulty.

Ensure correct paper type is selected.

6. Try a Different Document & Connection

Print a test page directly from the printer (not from your PC) to see if it produces anything.

If test pages also come out blank, the issue is with the hardware/ink system, not your computer.

7. Update Firmware & Drivers

Open the HP Smart app on your phone or PC.

Check for available firmware updates and reinstall the printer driver if needed.

8. If Still Printing Blank Pages

This usually means the printhead has dried/clogged (common if unused for weeks/months).

Try replacing the affected cartridge(s). If that doesn’t work, the printhead itself may need replacement or service.

I hope this helps.
