Hi @JeanetteSS,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

To add the option to scan a document as a PDF with your HP OfficeJet Pro 9130e, follow these steps.

Using HP Smart App

  1. Install the HP Smart App: If you haven't already, download and install the HP Smart app from the HP website or your device's app store.
  2. Open HP Smart: Launch the app and select your printer.
  3. Select Scan: Tap on the Scan option.
  4. Choose File Type: Look for the File Type or Save as option in the scan settings. You should be able to select PDF as the output format.

Using HP Scan Software (Windows)

  1. Open HP Scan Software: Go to the Start menu and search for "HP Scan" or the name of the scanning software installed for your printer.
  2. Configure Scan Settings: Select your printer and go to the scan settings.
  3. Select PDF: Under Save as type or similar options, choose PDF.

Using Printer's Built-in Software

  1. Open Printer's Software: Access the printer’s software from your computer. This can often be found in your list of installed programs or via the Control Panel on Windows.
  2. Select Scan: Choose the Scan option and go to Settings.
  3. Set File Type: Look for the option to set the file type and choose PDF.

If these options are not available, make sure your printer's firmware and software are updated to the latest version. Sometimes, software updates can add new features or improve existing ones.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
