Product: HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 All-in-One Printer

My office jet pro 8710 has worked well for years, then the head went bad. I recently replaced the head, and now It is demanding new cartridges. I've ordered those, and a set of the installation cartridges, so hopefully that will solve the issue. In the meantime, I reset the printer and now can't even scan. Is there any way I can get scan capability back? It won't let me go through the setup process without cartridges. Thank you for your help
