Common problems HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to scan

Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I am not able to scan with my Deskjet 3055a, for the simple, stupid reason that after nearly a year of inactivity I've forgotten the Win10 / HP command/program activation which is to be entered before the device is allowed access to the computer for scanning. It was always necessary to type something - I think it began with "HPxxxx" or similar - after which the scanner was allowed access. I thought it was "hpscan" or "hp scan" but I activate something entirely different when this is entered .. it is only necessary that scanning operations can be performed and the scanned data stored in the PC; I currently see the message (on the printer): "Computer not found, ensure that HP software is installed on the computer" (translated from the German message)

I appreciate your help very much, I don't have many options...

Welcome to the HP User Community.

I might be completely missing what you are asking.

Perhaps the following will help ...

There are two parts to this:

  • HP Smart application - supports printing and scanning PDF and Photos / Images.  HP Smart is supported in many regions and on many newer networked printers - The app is available from the  Microsoft Store
  • HP Full Feature Software / Full Driver printer software - supports printing and scanning from the web, from other programs (for example, Word), and access to the full range of Printing Preferences / Shortcuts.  The software includes HP Scan.

When installed,

HP Smart is listed in Settings > Apps > Apps and Features

HP Smart is never listed in Programs and Features

When installed,

The Full Driver printer software is listed in Control Panel > icon view > Programs and Features

And

The Full Driver printer software can also show up in Settings > Apps > Apps and Features

Scanning to the computer from the printer

The printer must know how to find the computer and how to then communicate and send the data to the computer.

After the printer software is installed, check - and, if necessary - enable Scan to Computer

Check / Configure Scan to Computer

After the installation of the printer software is complete,

Open the Printer Assistant (shortcut named for the printer on your Desktop)

Click Scan > Manage Scan to Computer

If not done, Click to Enable the feature

Scan from the printer to the computer:

To use, select the exact computer name listed - no extra letters or words in the name

Thanks a lot for your interest and help, I am truly frustrated with this problem.

I must confess that your response presents many things, most of which I do not fully understand. Again, I would very much like to know the name of the HP app which is started BEFORE attempting to scan; I had thought that this was hpscan but this app unleashes completely other activities. Too much other info is confusing for me and does not address the problem.

I have worked with my configuration in the past, and it was necessary that I run a program prior to scanning which I cannot remember the name of.

You are welcome.

I would like for you to know what you were using to prepare to scan, too.

Unfortunately, I don't know what you were using and apparently I don't know what you are asking.

If it was not the shortcut / Printer Assistant,

perhaps it was the aforementioned HP Smart Application

There are lots of Scan software and application options - I don't know what you were using previously...

One more try...
