Operating System: Ubuntu LTS

I have ubuntu 20.04 and an officejet pro 8139e, I can't seem to get the scanner working.  I called HP and they connected and said my drivers were not updated and they could fix it for $300.  Why are my drivers not updated when I have the latest HPLIP and everything.  Where am I missing what next I need to install?
