I use HP Smart Tank 6001 for scanning with Photoshop Elements. This defaults the output to a BMP format. Is there a way to change the out put to a JPG format picture?

Hi @Dan-021,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Yes, you can change the output format of your scanned images to JPG when using the HP Smart Tank 6001 with Photoshop Elements. Here’s how you can do it:

Open Photoshop Elements: Launch the software and go to the “Editor” or “Organizer” based on where you want to work with your scanned images.

Scan Settings:

  • If you're scanning directly from Photoshop Elements, look for a “Scan” option within the program. This will often be in the “File” menu or under a “Scan” or “Import” menu.
  • Choose your HP Smart Tank 6001 as the scanner.

Adjust Scan Settings:

  • When you access the scan settings or preferences, you’ll typically find options for output formats. Look for a section or tab labeled “File Type” or “Format.”
  • Change the file format to JPG or JPEG from BMP (Bitmap).

Save the Scan:

  • If you are scanning through the HP Smart app, scan your document as usual and save it. After saving, you can open the BMP file in Photoshop Elements and then save it as a JPG by going to File > Save As and choosing JPG as the format.

Set Default Preferences (Optional):

  • To make JPG the default format for future scans, you may need to set this within the HP Smart app or scanning software settings if it allows you to set a default output format.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
