I want to know how to scan in hp6 laserjet printer with windows 10; it prints fine.

Hp has 2 ways to do a scan (that I know of)

 

The quick and easy way  is to use the Microsoft store to install HP Smart.  You may have to tell it to search for the printer.  If it is found then a "minimum" scan driver will be downloaded which may be all you need

The other way is to install the full software package for your printer.  For my HP1415 the scan app was named simply "HP Scan" and has more features

You can also use your product name here https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/printers

and select the operating system.  Let me know if a problem.

Thanks. But I had great difficulty downloading the drivers as my relatively new laptop had windows 10. So it prints now. Should it not scan without the need for more downloading of drivers. I do not want to download more things if it stops printing.

Try the HP Smart app from the microsoft store.  It will work fine with networked printers.
