Microsoft Windows 11

I have an HP colour laser MFP 179fnw printer that is about 18 months old.  I have run approximately 5-6,000 pages through it (10 packets of paper, maybe 12).  I have received a warning that the imaging drum requires replacement.  This is surprising given the expected life of the drum in pages of print, even if the warning comes with 30% life remaining.  The printer is continuing to print and the quality remains quite good.  However, what I really want to do at the moment is scan some documents, and I am unable to do that because of the warning message.   Is there a way to circumvent this?  I don't understand what the printer drum has to do with scanning?

Hello @AWW2 ,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Read the user manual  carefully, page 144. You can turn off this option!

Also read here: HP 120A Original Laser Imaging Drum, W1120A .

Page yield (combo-pack) = Mono 16,000 pages; Color 4,000 pages

As long as the print quality doesn't drop, it doesn't seem to be a problem. But the drum should be replaced immediately if the print quality deteriorates.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
