HP Smart Mobile
Android 8.0 - 8.1 Oreo

Hi There,

I'm using HP Smart Mobile for scanning photos from my printer (HP OfficeJet 7612). However seems all working fine except that while scanning I can't select more than 300 DPI  and the only options I have are 75/100/200/300.

Could you please advise what could be a reason for not being able to select a higher resolution?

I would guess it is the restriction in the mobile software.

Using the HP Smart App (Android, Apple iOS)

The printer supports higher scan resolution

Specifications > Scanning specifications

You must use the printer software on the computer to accomplish (create) high resolution scans.

Example:   How to Scan (Windows)

I'm really disappointed on this.
All my expections that I will be able t to scan and print using mobile app only but no where in HP documentiatin metnioned the limitations of this feature.

I hope that HP can be more transperent and honest twords therir customers and mention such a limitaion in thier products!

I am sorry you are disappointed.

Although the application documentation does indeed indicate that not all features are available in the HP Smart App, the document wording does not include specific examples that explain the limitations.

Example : iOS HP Smart   provides App Support link  >

Print Anywhere with the HP Smart App  FAQ :  Why does Print Anywhere not work as expected?

My personal opinion agrees with the assessment that a more complete "how-to" document would be appropriate.

Caveats

  1. I am not an HP employee.   I do not speak for HP affairs, HP services, HP Technical Support.
  2. Errors in content are my own.
  3. It should be noted that I have never had expectations of having mobile device support mirror the feature support in a Mac / PC experience.  During the quick check I completed for the purpose of this post, I might have missed some portion of the Mobile How-to document hierarchy.
