HP ENVY 5661 e-All-in-One Printer

is the HP Envy 5661 considered an HP+ printer? I am scanning old photos and would like to do multi image scanning to be able to save the photos separately. It keeps telling me I need to look for advanced presets that I cannot find on either my HP Smart app on my phone or on my laptop. I don’t know if this is a printer issue or application issue. I have a current HP laptop that is only a year old so I’m thinking it might be the printer but need to confirm before I go out and buy a new one. Thanks in advance.

Hi @IvyMarie7777,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand the HP ENVY 5661 e-All-in-One Printer is not an HP+ printer. HP+ refers to a subscription-based service offering enhanced features for select HP printers, such as automatic ink delivery, extended warranty, and access to cloud-based services. The HP ENVY 5661 was released before the introduction of HP+ and does not include these features.

Regarding the issue you're experiencing with multi-image scanning, it sounds more like a software issue rather than a printer issue. The "advanced presets" you're referring to are typically found in the HP Smart app or through the HP scanning software on your laptop. Here's what you can try to resolve the issue:

  • Ensure the HP Smart app is updated: Make sure you're using the latest version of the HP Smart app on both your phone and laptop.
  • Check the scanning settings: When scanning in the HP Smart app, make sure you're selecting the correct scan settings. Look for options such as "Custom Scan" or "Advanced Settings" in the app to adjust the scan type, resolution, and file format.
  • Multi-image scanning: In the app, when you scan multiple images on a single page, ensure that the option for "Auto Detect" or "Multi-Image Scanning" is enabled. This feature will automatically separate each image on the scanned page into individual files.
  • Using the computer’s scanning software: If the HP Smart app doesn't offer the multi-image scanning feature, you can try using the full HP Scan software (if installed on your laptop). This software often has more robust scanning features compared to the app.
  • If you still have trouble, you may want to check if there's an issue with your printer's firmware or if it's not compatible with the most recent versions of the software. If the problem persists despite troubleshooting, upgrading to a newer printer with advanced scanning features (such as multi-image detection) may be worth considering.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
