Hi @schreib69,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Thanks for your question about the HP ENVY 7155 printer and OCR (Optical Character Recognition) on a Mac with macOS 15. I’m happy to go through what’s possible and what you’ll need.

Does HP ENVY 7155 Support OCR?

  • The HP ENVY 7155 hardware can scan documents, but HP’s built-in software for macOS does not include OCR functionality.
  • HP Easy Scan and HP Smart allow scanning to PDF/JPEG, but not converting scanned text into editable text formats (TXT, RTF, Word).

HP Recommended Approach

To perform OCR on Mac OS 15 with your HP ENVY 7155:

  1. Scan using HP Easy Scan or HP Smart
  2. Use Third-Party OCR Software
    • HP does not provide native OCR for macOS, but you can use trusted OCR apps:
      • ABBYY FineReader PDF for Mac – Highly accurate OCR for PDFs and images.
      • Adobe Acrobat Pro DC – OCR built into PDF editing.
      • OCRKit – A Lightweight OCR tool for Mac.
      • Prizmo – OCR and image enhancement for macOS.
    • These apps allow you to convert scanned documents into searchable and editable text formats.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
