Deskjet 2050
Microsoft Windows XP

I have a Deskjet 2050 printer and a Pavillion dv2000. I need to scan a multi-page document, but the scanner only seems to allow me to scan the pages one at a time, creating a seperate file for each page, and I have to go through the full "Scan Wizard" procedure for each one, which takes ages. Is there any way round this?

Hi @Recordingtenor

My bad!

Here's the link :

Scanning multiple pages to a PDF document

If you need a Software upgrade, try this standalone solution from HP :

HP Scan Extended

ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/scanners/HPScanExt/HPScanExt.msi

Once it's downloaded and installed, go to Start > All Programs > HP > HP Scan Extended > Run "HP Scan Extended"

Hope that helps!

Let us know if that works.

Hi,

Thanks for using the HP Forums.

This example will show you how it's done:

Thanks for your reply, but I'm afraid it hasn't helped. You refer me to "this example", but then don't tell me where to find it! I did a search for that name, but none of the replies I found refer to my printer model. One thing that strikes me, however, is that the software I have (which came with the printer) doesn't give me the option of scanning as a PDF - would a software upgrade help?

Best wishes - Richard

Thanks once again - we're getting there! The tutorial you provided the link to deals with a different (more sophisticated?) printer than mine. When I click on the "Scan a document or photo" icon, the "Microsoft scanner and camera wizard" opens - I don't get any option about this - and that wizard doesn't give me the option to scan to a PDF file. However, I downloaded the software you suggested, and that's done the trick! I can now scan multiple pages and save the result as a single PDF file, so thanks very much for your advice! The only problem I have now is that the definition/resolution if the scans is poor, and I can't see any way of adjusting it. No doubt there's an answer lurking somewhere in the forum - I just need to look for it!

Best wishes,

Richard

Thanks! I found the tutorial that shows that just after I sent my previous post, so all is now resolved. Very many thanks and best wishes!
