No problem, just a question: Is there a way to embed the date in a scan name i.e. automatically date each scan?

@M-Wright,

Good Day.  A warm welcome to the HP community. I am happy to assist you.

  • Did you check the printer settings?

For now,  let me keep you posted about a few things here.

  • To answer your question, yes the scans can be dated before saving it.
  • To do this the full feature printer software and drivers need to be installed.

Here are the steps:

  • Open the full feature printer software.
  • Then Click on the option Print scan & fax
  • Then click on scan a document or photo.
  • It opens the HP scan app.
  • Here you get options to scan as PDF or JPEG
  • Select the file format that you want to save as. For Example, save as PDF is on the right.
  • Then click on more in the upper right corner of the dialog box.
  • Then select the option destination in the right corner of the dialog box.
  • Then click on the plus "+" sign under the file name.
  • Then you get 3 options one is to save the file with the file name.
  • The other is to check the date option.
  • Then there is an option to check the time as well.
  • This will scan the file and show the date and time.

Hope this answers your question.

Good luck and keep me posted about the developments. If this helps, please mark this as “Accepted Solution as it will help several others with the same issue and give the post a Kudos for my efforts to help. Thank you and have a great week ahead. 🙂

DavidSMP,

Works like a charm. I thought there must be a way to do this. It's pretty basic (as is my knowledge). Thanks again.
