HP support structure is awful. After posting a description of an issue I got an email saying "its hard to provide you the appropriate solution for this issue in community. In order to get easy and hassle free HP Technical support for you peripherals. Kindly call +1-818-660-0765" I did call, twice. Both times the audio was so bad (VOIP?) I had to keep asking the agent to repeat what he said. It took some effort on my part to get him to understand my issue and then he said a technician would callme. No one called; that is not the first time this has happened. So to get this resolved: I post, wait a day, told to call which I do and that person can't resolve my issue (all time consuming), told to wait for a call, which I do, but no call comes. Wait another day and then get an email referring me back to this forum where I started in the first place.

Hi:
If you are getting unsolicited private messages via the forum's private message system, those are from scammers, not official HP reps.
This forum has been plagued by this for quite some time, and the folks at Lithium (the company that hosts this forum) in conjunction with HP, are trying to taking steps to mitigate this problem.
I can tell you that the 'HP" support number you posted is not an HP number at all.
There are warnings in the private message system notifying members of potential scammers posing as HP reps.
No legitimate person on this forum will ever send any other forum member who posts a public issue, a private message requesting they call some phone number for further assistance.
Folks will respond to your post in the public forum if they can be of help.
Do not...repeat...do not attempt to contact anyone from that phone number.

That is why you have to be doubly vigilant.
Scammers are posing as HP reps, and are getting darn good at it.
HP has issued this alert as well.
