HP DeskJet Plus 4152 All-in-One Printer

I’m trying to make copies on my printer and when I hit the print button, the copies that are printing out are in very small letters.  The copies aren’t coming out in original size.  Can someone help me understand why this is happening?

Hi @Tony0924,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP OfficeJet 4650 (or similar printer) is making copies with very small letters or incorrect scaling, it might be due to settings related to copy size or scaling. Here’s a step-by-step guide to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

1. Check Copy Settings

Access Copy Settings:

  • Printer Control Panel: On the printer’s control panel, locate the Copy option.
  • Select Copy Settings: Look for options related to Size, Scale, or Zoom.

Set to Original Size:

  • Choose “Actual Size”: Make sure the copy setting is set to Actual Size or 100% to ensure the copied content matches the original size.
  • Disable Scaling: If there are options like Fit to Page or Reduce/Enlarge, disable them or set them to None or 100%.

2. Check Paper Size

Verify Paper Size:

  • Check Paper Tray: Ensure that the paper size in the tray matches the size settings on your printer.

Adjust Paper Size Settings:

  • Set Paper Size: On the printer’s control panel, make sure the paper size setting matches the size of the paper loaded in the tray (e.g., A4, Letter).

3. Update or Reset Printer Settings

Update Printer Software:

  • Visit HP Support: Download and install any available updates for your printer software from the HP Support website.

Reset Printer Settings:

  • Restore Defaults: If updating doesn’t work, you might want to reset the printer’s copy settings to default. This option is often found in the settings menu.

4. Test Copy Function

  1. Make a Test Copy:
    • Use Known Document: Try making a copy of a standard-sized document (e.g., an 8.5 x 11 inch page) to see if the problem persists.
    • Check Results: Verify if the new copy matches the original size and text.

5. Use HP Smart or Printer Software

Open HP Smart:

  • Access Copy Settings: If you have the HP Smart app installed, open it and access the copy function.
  • Adjust Settings: Check if there are options to set copy size or scaling and adjust them accordingly.

Check Printer Software:

  • Printer Preferences: Open the printer software on your computer (not HP Smart) and look for copy settings. Ensure they are configured correctly.

6. Perform Printer Calibration

  1. Run Calibration:
    • Access Printer Menu: Use the control panel to find any calibration or alignment options.
    • Follow Instructions: Complete the calibration process as instructed. This can help resolve issues related to scaling and print quality

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
