Color LaserJet Pro MFP M281cdw

I’m confused why my printer copier won’t automatically copy a two-sided document to a two-sided document.  The manual process works where you lay the document on the glass and the instructions tell you when to turn over the document and continue.  The HP manual indicates that you have the option to copy either using the feeding tray (automatic) or the scanning bed (manual).  When I try to feed the two-sided document through the tray on top of the printer, it runs it through but doesn’t grab it back to make a copy of the second side. For both options, the instructions for the settings (two sided copy) are the same.  What gives?  My mom’s cheapo Epson ink jet printer even makes auto duplex copies....but not my new laser printer?  Great!

If this does not help, resetting the printer to its factory settings may help

  • The reset instructions are specific for your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may corrupt the device.
  • I've sent you a private message with reset instructions, follow the reset instruction to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer.
