I recently got a LaserJet Pro MFP M148fdw. It prints and copies well. I can't get it to scan, though. There seems to be no driver for that, and I can't even get it to register that it's a scanner on the Mac Printer/Scanner settings. I got it because it was really multifunction--but if there's no scan feature, I'm wasting my time with this. Nothing I've seen so far on the HP site has been able to help. When I try to use HPscan feature, I get an error message that the scanner is unavailable. I thought maybe it was in sleep mode and that was the problem, but that doesn't seem to be it. Any ideas?

Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Installing the printer with AirPrint drivers and installing HP Easy Scan may resolve this issue. Let us try these steps:
1.) Click the Apple menu, click System Preferences, and then click Print & Scan or Printers & Scanners.
2.) Check if your printer name displays in the Printers list, If your printer is listed, click the printer name, click the minus sign to delete the printer.
3.) If you see multiple printer queues for the same printer, remove all extra printers by selecting them one at a time, and then clicking the minus button at the bottom of the list.
4.) Click the plus sign , click Add Printer or Scanner, click the printer name.
5.) Click the Use or Print Using menu, select AirPrint in the pop-up menu. Then click Add.
6.) Try to print.
- Next, install the latest HP Easy Scan from here. It will be installed within the Applications folder.
- Finally, ensure your drivers are up to date by clicking the Apple icon, select About this Mac and then press Software Update.
- Click Store on the top menu bar, click Reload Page, click Update All if any updated are available.
- Try Scanning.
Method 2: Alternatively, Scan from Apple Image Capture
Place the item that you want to scan on the scanner glass, or load it into the automatic document feeder (ADF).
In the Applications folder or from the Dock, select Image Capture.
Select your printer from the Device list. If your printer is connected to a network, select it from the Shared list.
If a 'Software for this device is not installed' message displays after you select your printer, select Install, and then follow the instructions to complete the installation.
Select Show Details and change any settings as needed.
Select Scan.
Let me know how this goes.
