We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.

After automatic firmware update performed on the printer itself scan to network folder stopped working.


I tried about everything I found in forums: factory reset, changing share name to IP, disabling/enabling scan to folder, setting username with the 'domain' (folder is shared without username/password and it's accessible from other computers in the network and it was working fine like that with previous firmware).


Any ideas? Or maybe instructions on how to downgrade the firmware?

If you will not be able to fix your issue can provide you with firmware version 20190226 or 20190827. To downgrade you need to load rfu. firmware file on a USB drive and run firmware upgrade/downgrade from the printers menu on the front panel.

I found 20190226 on hp ftp site. Maybe it may not be a bad idea if you can get me 20190827. I'm not sure if there are any region or sub-model specific variants?

The firmware covers the whole M521 series and there are no region variants.

Thank you. I spent some time with the machine yesterday (unfortunately it's 30 minutes travel from my place), and it seems that software it was upgraded TO is 20190226 . I tried updating it to the newest one, just to try - unfortunately it still doesn't work.

So I would need firmware older than 20190226.

I'm surprised that I can't reach a technician or a technical document giving pointers on what parameters this option requires on the server side in order to work (I presume it should be working under certain conditions).

Fact I find interesting is that it seems to be communicating with the server (if I provide bad share address I get different error), so it must be something related to the protocols/permissions. I tried different SMB versions, different username/password/no password combinations - no luck.

Not sure that even an older firmware will be helpful. Any chance you know the working firmware version before this issue happened?

Can you eliminate possible printer issue from network/server/OS issue by connecting a printer to a single computer with LAN cable and configure sent to a folder on than one computer?
