Common problems HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to scan
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.

MFP M277dw no longer can scan reliably using the document feeder, especially multi-page documents.  The feeder works fine, but after a variable number of pages, from one to "many", the "communications error" pops up on the computer, the scan stops and the scan needs to be cancelled on the MFP.  The pages that were fed have been scanned fine and are available, but beyond that, scanning the remaining pages needs to be abandoned.  Interestingly, page-by-page flatbed scans seem to be able to be done to any number of pages, but that is obviously tedious when a large document needs to be scanned.  Another interesting note is that this first happen when I was scanning a large operating manual of perhaps 100 pages, and thereafter it happens after at most five or six pages, and often even one page can't be scanned with the doc feeder.  It almost seems like a "buffer memory" issue (if such a thing exists), or perhaps a speed of scanning issue, but why all of a sudden on that one big file, and why does it persist after numerous shutdowns and re-starts of both the computer and the MFP?

I have deleted the driver and loaded the latest driver, have loaded the latest firmware. have tried different "Link Speeds", tried different IPv4 and v6 settings, tried wired ethernet cable and wireless communications and nothing has helped at all.  Perhaps trying a fully wired connection via a USB printer cable?

Note, again, the sheet-by-sheet flatbed scanning seems to have an unlimited capacity, and the MFP will copy a huge, document feeder document with no trouble. and makes great B&W and color copies.  The problem is only multi-page document feeder scanning.

Thanx in advance for any guidance!

Cheers!

If you have been using this for faxing it is possible that they memory is filled up and you need to clear the fax memory to free space. Check the fax options from the control panel. Sorry I do not know where or if this model has that feature, but most with fax do have a clear memory option. If not, you may need to perform a factory reset to resolve this issue or try scanning at a lower resolution.

Hi Trooper!  I appreciate the reply, but no dice.  I have never used the FAX feature on this machine, I have done a factory reset and I have tried 75 DPI all to no avail.  As some additional information, the machine alway scanned fine until on day I was working on scanning large manuals, about 150 pages, when the problem first occurred.  It started happening at about 100, pages, then the number got smaller and smaller, and now it happens after at most six pages.  The error is a communication problem with the computer.  My router seems fine, and I have tried WIFI and ethernet cable connection between the computer and the printer, including the "WIFI Direct" method, all with no effect at all.  I will try a USB printer cabler next, and also am beginning to wonder if it might be the old MacBook Pro I am using....

Thanx!
