There is another thread with this same issue - no solution found that was closed for an unknown reason so I'm posting it again.   This was a fresh install of Windows 10 first install of the software - just downloaded from the website - latest version.  CLick on the HP CLJM477 scan shortcut put on the desktop during the install - immediately get the HP CLJM477 was not found.

After spending over an hour on the issue I found the solution.

There is a glitch in the installation program - downloaded more than once tried on more than one computer.  Uninstalled rebooted and reinstalled many times.   The installation program does NOT wait for you to select if you have a USB, network or other connection, it skips that page and keeps going.   It may be a Windows 10 or a win10 version issue.

The solution was to go to the program files directory after the install.   There is an installation program there - reinstall over the existing install, it will wait for you to select your connection type to the scanner.

On this model the scan to computer option is disabled by default. You need to go into the embedded web server of the printer and go to administrative settings and turn on scan to PC.

Thanks - My system doesn't have administrative settings - home, system, print, fax, scan, networking,

I did go to scan, network folder setup, the share is there - I click on test, it works, however when you try to use the software you by clicking on the HP CJM477 Scan icon on the desktop, the install program created, you get

HP Scan

The HP CLJM477 Scan was not found.

The scanner is listed in devices on the PC with no errors and that HP detect doctor reports no errors and I can access the printer / scanner from chrome no issue and I can print to it.
