Every time I send a scan it sends it with the same file name... I am attempting to send documents to someone and every time I do it repalces the previous one because someone with infinite wisdom does not understand the word PREFIX

Innerchaos_0-1614224483407.png

If you look at the settings it clearly says file name prefix

that simple little distinction suggests it is a prefix to some file not the actual file name

usually most printers, scanners, copiers name the file something like Scan with numbers denoting date and time numbers. hence the word PREFIX in the parameter field.

if its not really a prefix then you should just update the software to say FILE NAME because there is no prefix

By default just the word scan was there... all my files were called scan.pdf

i tried adding common handlers like MM-DD-YYYY and it just named the file Scan_MM-DD-YYYY.pdf

what programmer missed this obvious detail.

Hi@Innerchaos, Welcome to the HP Community

Let's try setting prefix from the EWS page of the printer

1) Print a Network configuration page from the printer's control panel.

2) Look for IP address from the Network configuration page.

3) Open a web browser - Chrome or IE or any other browser that you are using.

4) Type the IP address mentioned on the Network configuration page into the browser's address bar or URL bar and press enter button.

5) Go to the Scan tab.

6) Click on Scan to email.

7) Then click on E-mail Options and you can find to set the prefix.

Check if this helps you out!

Keep me posted. Happy to help!
