Hello,
My Color Laserjet Pro recently stopped working while trying to use Scan to Email. I get the error message "An error occurred while sending the email. Try sending again.
Using the printer webpage admin I've tried the following:
- Deleted and re-added the the Outgoing Email Profile (there is only 1)
- Deleted and re-generated the app password for my google account and updated the Outgoing Email Profile
- Changed the network settings for the printer to use 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 for DNS (as indicated in another post here)
The outgoing email profile is setup as follows:
Your email address: {my **bleep** address}
Display Name: {my first and last name}
SMTP Server: smtp.**bleep**.com
SMTP Port: 587
Always use secure connection: {{checked}
SMTP server requires authentication for outgoing e-mail messages: {checked}
SMTP User ID: {my **bleep** address}
SMTP Password: {app password generated by my Google account}
PIN is not used
When I save and test my profile, it is successful and I receive the test email. However, the MFP still generates the error shown above each time.
Anyone have any ideas on how to fix?

Google requires that you have your email account set to allow less secure method for sending. That may be the issue if you have not changed your Google account settings.

Thanks for the reply Repairatrooper, however your suggestion is not correct when Google's 2-factor authentication is enabled.
See note in first section of https://support.google.com/a/answer/6260879?hl=en
When 2-factor authentication is enabled, you must generate an app password for the printer, as I indicated that I have done above.
I've been using scan to email for at least 2 years using an app password. The scan to email just stopped working in the past couple of weeks.
