 Is the September 2018 dated non-publicly released firmware mentioned as fixing this problem available for the HP LaserJet Pro 200 color MFP M276nw? I recently upgraded to the 20180205 dated firmware and can no longer scan to a network drive as described here.

I found a solution to this. It seems the latest firmware for this printer that changes the SMB support to version 2 is not compatible with the Netgear ReadyNAS's SMB version 2. By default the ReadyNAS supports SMB versions 1 through 3. You can download the SMB Plus app on the ReadyNAS, then set the minimum and maximum supported versions to SMB 1 and reboot the device. This forces the printer to use version 1, and scanning to a network folder works again.

Are you getting any error message while doing the scan to network folder?

Which operating system is installed on the computer to which this printer is connected?

How is the printer connected, USB or Wireless?

 

Meanwhile:

Perform a power reset

  1. Turn on the printer, if it is not already on.
  2. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.
  3. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  4. Wait at least 30 seconds.
  5. Plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector and printer.
  6. Turn on the printer.

The error message displayed on the printer when trying to scan to a network folder is "Scanning was unsuccessful. Please try again." after the "Connecting..." screen is shown for a few seconds.

The printer is scanning to a network folder on a Netgear ReadyNAS, which folders are accessible from other computers on the network. The ReadyNAS hasn't been changed or upgraded recently, and we've previously scanned to it from the printer for years without issue. Immediately after upgrading the printer firmware recently this began. The printer is connected to a wireless access point.

Restarting the printer did not change the behavior.

Run the Print and Scan Doctor

Download and run HP Print and Scan Doctor  to automatically diagnose and resolve printer hardware and connection issues.

After the Print and Scan Doctor opens, click Fix Scanning to test your scanner, and then follow any instructions to resolve the issue.

 

Check Windows Image Acquisition settings.

  1. In Windows, search for and open View local services.

  2. In the Services window, scroll down the list and find Windows Image Acquisition (WIA).

  3. Look at the Status and Startup Type values.

    • If the status is Started or Running and the Startup Type is Automatic, WIA is running correctly. Skip to the next step.

      Making sure WIA Status is Running and Startup Type is Automatic

    • If the status is Disabled or no status displays, right-click Windows Image Acquisition (WIA), click Properties, click the General tab, select Automatic from the Startup type dropdown menu, and then click Start.

      If the Start button is grayed out, go back to the Services menu, make sure Remote Procedure Call, Shell Hardware Detection, RPC Endpoint Mapper, and DCOM Server Process Launcher are running and set as Automatic, and then start WIA.

I'm not running Windows on a computer on my network, and I'm not trying to scan to or from my computer. I'm running into this error when selecting scan to network folder on the screen of the printer itself. I had been running a couple year old version of firmware on the printer without this issue, and it began after upgrading the printer to the latest firmware.

Configure scan to network again to fix this issue.

USe Scan to Network Folder Wizard,

Removing and re-adding the scan to network folder still results in the error in the attached screenshot, which is what I was getting for the existing ones after the firmware upgrade as well.

 

Looking at other people struggling with this earlier in this thread, different non-publicly available firmware corrected the issue for them:

I'd like to downgrade the firmware back to what I was using when scanning to a network folder worked.
