Hi @ricks181,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are facing an issue with your HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 scanning blank pages on your Windows 11 computer, the issue might be due to problems with the scanner settings, hardware, or software. Here’s how you can troubleshoot and resolve this:

1. Perform a Power Reset

  1. Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  2. Wait for 60 seconds.
  3. Plug the printer back in and turn it on.
  4. Attempt to scan again.

2. Check the Scanner Glass and ADF

  • Scanner Glass: Ensure there’s no dirt, dust, or smudges on the scanner glass. Clean it with a soft, lint-free cloth slightly dampened with water.
  • Automatic Document Feeder (ADF): If using the ADF, check for any debris or stuck paper. Clean the scanner strip inside the ADF.

3. Adjust Scan Settings

  1. Open the HP Smart app or your scanning software.
  2. Go to the scanning section.
  3. Ensure the correct source is selected (e.g., "Flatbed" or "ADF").
  4. Adjust the resolution to at least 300 DPI for better results.
  5. Make sure Color is enabled instead of Grayscale (if applicable).

4. Update or Reinstall the Printer Driver

  1. Open Device Manager on your PC.
  2. Expand Printers and right-click your HP OfficeJet Pro 8600.
  3. Select Update Driver > Search automatically for updated driver software.
  4. If the problem persists, uninstall the driver:
    • Right-click the printer and select Uninstall Device.
    • Restart your computer.
    • Download and reinstall the latest drivers from the HP Support Website.

5. Test the Scanner Hardware

  • Try making a copy directly from the printer’s control panel:
    1. Place a document on the scanner glass.
    2. Press the Copy button.
    3. Check if the printer produces a proper copy.
  • If the copy is blank, the scanner hardware may have an issue.

6. Run the Printer Scan Doctor HP Print and Scan Doctor

Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor tool:

  1. Download HP Print and Scan Doctor.
  2. Install and run the tool.
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions to diagnose and fix scanning problems.

7. Reset the Printer to Factory Settings

  1. On the printer control panel, go to Setup > Printer Maintenance > Restore Factory Settings.
  2. Confirm the reset and reconfigure the printer.

8. Check for Firmware Updates Update the firmware on an HP printer

  1. Go to Setup > Printer Maintenance > Update the Printer.
  2. Follow the instructions to update the printer’s firmware.

9. Test on Another Computer

  • Install the printer on another computer to check if the issue is specific to your PC.
