The MS scanner app worked fine several months ago but now I get the message to connect a scanner.  I have an HP PC and Brother MFC-J690DW printer. If I try to scan using the screen on the printer, it also says "no PC found".  I tried downloading another scanning app from the MS store, but it can't find a connection either.   Please help.  Thanks.

The actual problem was that I was trying to scan to a .tiff format, which evidently you can't do.  Once I tried the .jpeg format, everything was fine.

Sure - makes sense -- not all apps / software support .tif

Windows Fax and Scan supports .tif format.

Examples -

Fax_and_Scan_Tif_Scan_Set_1Fax_and_Scan_Tif_Scan_Set_1

and

Fax_and_Scan_Document_Scan_Set_1Fax_and_Scan_Document_Scan_Set_1
