Hi @Kmyers401,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The issue of "problem connecting to server" when trying to send mobile faxes via the HP Smart app can occur due to several reasons, such as connectivity issues, app-related problems, or server-side disruptions. Here's how to troubleshoot and resolve the issue.

Check Your Internet Connection

  • Wi-Fi or Mobile Data: Ensure your device is connected to a stable internet connection. Switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data to test if the issue is network-specific.
  • Speed Test: Run an internet speed test to confirm your connection is fast enough for online services.

Update the HP Smart App

  • Check for Updates: Go to the Google Play Store (Android) or Apple App Store (iOS) and make sure you have the latest version of the HP Smart app.
  • Reinstall the App: If the app is up-to-date, uninstall it, restart your device, and reinstall the app.

Clear App Cache (Android Only)

  • Go to Settings > Apps > HP Smart > Storage and tap Clear Cache. Then restart the app.

Confirm HP Smart Account Login

  • Ensure you're signed into the HP Smart app with your account. Log out and log back in if necessary.

Verify Server Status

  • Check HP Services: Visit our HP Customer Support website or search for "HP Smart server status" to see if there are reported outages or maintenance updates.

Restart Your Device and Printer

  • Device Restart: Power off your smartphone/tablet and turn it back on.
  • Printer Restart: If your printer is linked to the HP Smart app, restart it as well.

Reconnect the App to Your Printer

  • If you use the app for printing and faxing, remove the printer from the HP Smart app and re-add it:
    1. Open the HP Smart app.
    2. Tap your printer and select Remove Printer.
    3. Tap Add Printer and follow the setup process.

Try Faxing After Some Time

  • If the issue persists, the problem might be server-side. Wait for a few hours and try again.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
