@jfchawk, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If you're looking to scan with your HP OfficeJet 4650 and Mopria only certifies the printing functionality, you can still use other methods depending on your device. Here’s how to scan using various platforms:
🟢 For Android Devices:
Since Mopria Scan doesn't support the HP 4650, the recommended method is to use HP's own app:
✅ Use HP Smart App (Recommended)
- Download HP Smart from the Google Play Store.
- Connect your phone to the same Wi-Fi network as your printer.
- Open HP Smart → Tap "Scan" → Select "Scanner".
- You can preview, crop, and save or share the scanned document.
🟦 For Windows PCs:
You have a couple of options for scanning:
✅ Option 1: HP Smart for Windows 10/11
- Install the HP Smart app from the Microsoft Store.
- Add your HP OfficeJet 4650.
- Click on "Scan" from the main menu to start scanning.
✅ Option 2: Windows Fax and Scan
- Type Windows Fax and Scan in the Start menu.
- Open it and click New Scan.
- Choose your HP 4650 and proceed to scan.
🍎 For macOS:
✅ Use Image Capture (Built-in)
- Connect the HP 4650 via USB or Wi-Fi.
- Open Image Capture (found in Applications).
- Select your printer from the left panel and click Scan.
🔄 Alternative for Linux or Third-party Software:
- You can try apps like VueScan (paid, but works with many older or partially supported scanners).
- On Linux, consider using simple-scan or XSane (the HP 4650 has partial support via HPLIP).
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
