Recently my All In One Printer has developed problems while in Scan preview. With multiple scans, the preview mode jumps from one page to the next page, in no particular order. It is driving me nuts. What can I do to fix this. Thank you! It just happened this past week (June 2024).

I understand your experience with your HP OfficeJet Pro 7740 is related to software rather than hardware, especially since it started recently. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially fix this problem:

1. Update HP Software and Drivers

Ensure you have the latest version of the HP software and drivers installed. You can download the latest updates from the HP Support website.

  1. Go to the HP Support page.
  2. Enter your printer model (OfficeJet Pro 7740).
  3. Select your operating system (Windows 11).
  4. Download and install any available updates for drivers and software.

2. Update HP Smart App

If you're using the HP Smart app, make sure it is updated to the latest version. Updates can fix bugs and improve performance.

  1. Open the Microsoft Store.
  2. Search for "HP Smart."
  3. If an update is available, click "Update."

3. Reinstall HP Software

Sometimes reinstalling the software can resolve issues.

Uninstall the current HP software from your computer:

  • Go to Settings > Apps > Apps & features.
  • Find the HP software, click on it, and select "Uninstall."

Restart your computer.

Download and install the latest HP software from the HP Support page.

4. Reset Printer Settings

Resetting the printer settings can sometimes resolve issues caused by recent changes.

  1. Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  2. Wait for about a minute, then plug it back in and turn it on.

5. Check Scanner Settings

Make sure the scanner settings are configured correctly.

  1. Open the HP scanning software or HP Smart app.
  2. Check the scan settings to ensure that the scan type, resolution, and other settings are correct.

6. Try a Different Scanning Software

If the problem persists, try using a different scanning software to see if the issue is with the HP software.

  1. Windows has a built-in scanning application called "Windows Scan."
  2. You can download it from the Microsoft Store if it's not already installed.

Additional Tips:

  • Ensure your operating system is up-to-date with the latest Windows updates.
  • Check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer on the HP Support page.
