Hi @Nancy1120,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand your HP OfficeJet Pro 8025e is able to print but not scan, there are several potential issues to check. Here's a step-by-step guide to troubleshoot and hopefully resolve the scanning issue:

1. Check the Connection

  • USB Connection: If you're using a USB connection, ensure the cable is properly connected to both the printer and the computer. Try using a different USB port or cable.
  • Network Connection: If you're using a network connection (Wi-Fi or Ethernet), make sure the printer is connected to the same network as your computer. You can verify this by printing a network configuration page from the printer settings.

2. Restart Devices

  • Printer: Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for about 30 seconds, and then plug it back in and turn it on.
  • Computer: Restart your computer to refresh the connection and any associated services.

3. Update or Reinstall Printer Drivers

  • Go to the HP Support website and download the latest drivers for your HP OfficeJet Pro 8025e.
  • Install the drivers, following the on-screen instructions. If the drivers are already installed, consider uninstalling them first and then reinstalling.

4. Check Scanner Software

  • HP Smart App: Ensure you have the latest version of the HP Smart app or HP Scan software installed. This software is required for scanning.
  • Open the HP Smart app and attempt to scan a document to check if the issue persists.

5. Run HP Print and Scan Doctor HP Print and Scan Doctor

  • Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor. This tool can automatically diagnose and resolve many issues related to scanning and printing.

6. Firewall/Security Software

  • Temporarily disable any firewall or security software to see if it's blocking the scanning process.

7. Check Scanner Settings

  • Windows: Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers, right-click on your HP OfficeJet Pro 8025e, and select Start Scan. Ensure the correct scanner is selected.
  • Mac: Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners, select your HP OfficeJet Pro 8025e, and click on the Scan tab to initiate a scan.

8. Test Scan from Printer

  • Try initiating the scan directly from the printer’s control panel. If the scan works from the printer but not from the computer, the issue is likely with the software on your computer.

9. Check for Firmware Updates Update the firmware on an HP printer

  • Check if there is a firmware update available for your printer. Firmware updates can fix bugs and improve functionality. You can check for updates via the HP Smart app or on the HP support website.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
