HP Photosmart 7525

I am unable to scan to email on my HP Photosmart 7525 all in one printer.  I can print over the network just fine.  I've already powered down everything, including the router.  I unplugged the printer.  Waited 15 minutes.  After the router came back up, I powered up the printer and my computer.  Still can't scan to email.  This function stopped working after I attempted to add a new account to scan to email.  I have removed the account I attempted to add.  HELP

Welcome to the HP Community

 Let's try these steps here:

Perform a Hard reset on the printer and make sure that the printer is connected directly to the wall outlet and not to the surge protector.

With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.

Remove USB cable, if present.

Wait for 2-3 minutes, press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.

Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord and then plug back the power cord to the printer.

Turn on the printer and wait till warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle.

Next thing, I would suggest here is to update the printer firmware. If your printer connected wirelessly, make sure to temporary connect the device with USB and then follow the link to check for the latest firmware update is available for your printer, using this website.  Or you can directly update the printer firmware from the printer control panel.

For more details on how to update the printer firmware, please follow this link: HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware Once done restart the printer.

If the issue persists,  I’d suggest you assign a public DNS to try and fix this issue. Here are the steps:

  • Obtain the IP address of the printer – You can touch the “wireless” icon on the printer control panel to get the IP address.
  • Type the IP address on your web browser to obtain the printer EWS page on your computer.
  • Go to "Network" tab - General - Select "Network protocols" - Select "Enable IPv4 only" (or similar) - Apply the settings.
  • Go to the “Network” tab – Click on “Wireless (802.11) – Then click on “Network address (IPv4)
  • Click on the radio button which says “Manual IP” and then click “Suggest a manual IP address” to give a manual IP address to your printer.
  • Click on the radio button which says “Manual DNS Server” and under manual preferred type 8.8.8.8 and under manual alternate type 8.8.4.4 (This is Google DNS server address)
  • Restart the printer and the router and check for issue resolution.

If the issue persists, I would suggest you follow the steps suggested in the section - How do I scan to email from this support document - HP Printers - How to Scan (Windows)
