My HP Scan dialog box is displaying on my desktop the size of a postage stamp. Making it impossible to read. The size (max) button on my HP dialog box is not showing

The original HP Scan software GUI (Graphics User Interface) is not compatible with very high resolution screens.

Tiny little thing.

The good news is that your printer will also support the HP Universal Scan Software.

The software is both printer model and Operating System / version dependent.

If you are running a compatible OS / version, you can install the software.

The HP Universal Scan Software GUI is well suited to higher resolution screens.

The HP Universal Scan Software shares a number of the familiar settings with the original format HP Scan.

Universal Scan can be installed after the Full Feature Software or as a standalone package.

HP Smart is also better suited to higher resolution screens -- app can be resized - resizing the menu also changes the size of the preview window.

HP Universal Scan - Full Feature Software and Driver 

If asked, opt for the Full Driver to be installed.

After the software is installed, Restart the computer and sign in.

The installation of the full driver generally adds at least one or more shortcuts to the Desktop.

 Note:  Printer Assistant, HP Scan Assistant, and HP Scan are dependent on printer model and supported software options.

• Printer Assistant – Where still supported as part of the full driver printer software
• HP Scan Assistant – For those printers that no longer provide the Printer Assistant
• HP Scan – Shortcut on Desktop named for the printer model
• When installed, HP Universal Scan software adds a separate self-named “HP Scan” shortcut

Printer Assistant shortcut > Tab Scan > Manage Scan to Computer > Enable

Thank you so much for the timely response Dragon-Fur.

I deleted the icon from my desktop that was showing the postage stamp dialog box. I opened the one on my taskbar and received the desired dialog box. WHEW! That was scary. I was trying to get out an important report when this occurred.
